How to Evaluate Silicone Grades for Wholesale Assortments
Not all medical-grade silicone is created equal. A practical framework buyers can use to compare suppliers on durometer, additives, and finish before committing to volume.

Silicone quality is one of the most common points of confusion for buyers new to the category. "Medical-grade" is a starting point, not a complete specification, and two suppliers can both use that term while shipping meaningfully different products.
Start by requesting the durometer rating, which measures material firmness on the Shore A scale. Most wholesale-grade products fall between 00-20 and 00-50 depending on intended use. Ask for consistency data across production batches, not just a single sample reading.
Second, request the full additive disclosure. Platinum-cure silicone should list its catalyst type and confirm the absence of phthalates. This documentation should match what appears in the material safety data sheet provided with your compliance package.
Finally, evaluate finish consistency across a full production run rather than a hand-picked sample. Ask your supplier for photos or physical samples pulled from at least three different production dates.
